Cheriyal is a village in Siddipet district in the state of Telangana in India. The Cheriyal style of painting is believed to be more than five centuries old depicting stories in a narrative style of several mythological characters prevalent in India.

Create detailed Lord Krishna themed Cheriyal paintings ready to be framed. A predetermined composition will be used to understand the unique motifs and painting techniques as per the traditional style of colour selection. Choose a batch to make 1 painting or choose all three batches to make 3 different paintings under one theme to adorn a wall in your home!

About the Artist
Second generation master artisan and State Awardee Madhu Merugoju will be teaching us the intricacies of Cheriyal painting in this workshop. With several regional awards like the Kalanidhi & Mega award he has trained more than 4000 students in his career of 20+ years. Sponsored by the Govt. of India DC Handicrafts he has been teaching at the ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’, ‘Handicrafts Technical Training Programme’ & ‘Indira Gandhi Manav Sangrahalaya’.

What you will learn Hands On

  • Composition and layout of typical borders, motifs & patterns
  • Process of making natural colour through virtual presentations
  • Traditional painting techniques by renowned master artisan

What you can create

  • 1 painting at the end of 3 hours across 2 days or
  • 2 paintings at the end of 6 hours across 4 days or
  • 3 paintings at the end of 9 hours across 6 days

What you need to carry

  • Paper: A3 size; Canvas)
  • Colours: Acrylic, Set of 12
  • Brushes: Round, #000, 00, 0, 1 and upto #12
  • Fine Artline Pens, Colour Palette and Water
  • Hair dryer to dry the paint application(saves time)
  • Pencil, eraser and scale 

Participants need to be ready with the sketch outline that will be shared before the class on the A3 size canvas. We will share this when you book.

Orissa Pattachitra Painting Workshop

(Lord Jagannath theme)

Odisha Pattachitra style of paintings are more than thousand years old. The name Pattachitra has evolved from the Sanskrit words patta, meaning canvas, and chitra, meaning picture. Pattachitra is thus a painting done on canvas, and is manifested by rich colourful application, creative motifs, and designs, and portrayal of simple themes, mostly mythological in depiction using natural colours.

Create detailed Lord Jagannath themed Orissa Pattachitra paintings ready to be framed. A predetermined composition will be used to understand the unique motifs and painting techniques as per the traditional style of colour selection. About the Artist
Our young seventh generation master artisan and recipient of several regional awards Alok Ranjan Sahoo will be teaching us the intricacies of Orissa Patachitra painting in this workshop. He will be streaming the classes live from the heritage village of Raghurajpur, Orissa.

The region of Shekhawati in Rajasthan is remarkable for its wealth of mural paintings which adorn the walls of many buildings, including havelis. The region covers almost 5,000 square miles and hosts an estimated 2,000 frescoed buildings built from the 17th to the early 20th century. Arguably the world’s largest collection of outdoor painting, Shekhawati is a treasure trove of startling architecture and adornment.

About the Artist
President awardee Shri Bhairun Lal Swarnkar has been practising the art of Shekhawati since 49 years. Amongst the several regional accolades he has been awarded by many presidents of our country naming a few are – Shri R. Venkataraman, Shri Shankar Dayal Sharma, Smt. Pratibha Patil, Vice President Shri K.R. Narayan, Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi.

Notably the Govt. of India had issued a Rs.5/- postal stamp on his painting of Shri Devnarayan Bhagwan in 2011.

We are indeed very proud and honoured to have Shri Bhairun Lal Swarnkar teach us the art of Shekhawati.
